Carmen is very much her sire’s daughter: long, straight bodied, with a shallow long rump. She is uphill with tight shoulders and she has a very wide arch. She is friendly and easy going and has a very pretty, strong colour with tan skin. Carmen’s son, FF Castro is producing lovely quality progeny for a breeder in Western Australia.

Before coming to Queensland, Carmen was with her breeders, Michael and Ulrike Garwood, who say: “Carmen surprised us with her first freshening large, well shaped and well attached udder. We took her to the Royal Geelong Show 2018, where she won Overall Best Udder and Reserve Champion Doe against standard dairy breeds! At Berwick Dairy Goat Show in 2019 she won Champion Nigerian Dwarf and she won third place in the first freshening udder class, behind Belinda Cardinal’s fantastic Toggenburgs.”

What a great achievement for a new breed! Carmen produced 3 gorgeous doelings to FF Naturaliset in April 2021. Unfortunately we lost one but we have retained Ivydale Saffron and Ivydale Cinnamon who are both quality does. In December 2021, Carmen produced triplets to FF Pinky – 2 bucklings and a lovely doeling who we have retained and have called Ivydale Cassia. Carmen had been bred to FF Moondance and hopefully will kid in January 2023. We are very excitied about this combination and can’t wait to see what she produces.

Maude is one of quadruplet doelings born to first freshener FF Karina. Karina is one of the highest quality dairy goats at First Fleet showing very good capacity, attachment and overall beautiful dairy conformation. Maude shows good conformation and a clean , wide and high arch. We look forward to seeing her develop.

Maud produced twin bucklings to Pinky in November 2021 and in July 2022, she produced a single buckling to Elliot. She will not be bred again until 2023 when hopefully she will give us a doeling!

Botanica is a very pretty silver belted doe with lovely body length. She has a wonderful steady temperament and is quite a character to live with. In December 2021, Botanica kidded a single buck and in July 2022 she produced 2 bucks so she will not be bred again until 2023.

Cinnamon is a lovely gold and white doe with a steady, friendly temperament and lovely dairy characteristics. She is a daughter of Carmen and Naturaliste and she continues Carmen’s excellent conformation with strong topline, long body and flat rump. She produced triplets to FF Elliot in July 2022 – a gorgeous doe who we will retain and have named Ivydale Opal and we are also keeping a blue eyed buckling who we have named Ivydale Cinnabar. We hope to show them both in the coming months when shows resume.

China Doll is so well named. She is a lovely pale gold color with blue eyes and is a super sweet natured doe who always comes up for a pat and a cuddle. On the serious side, she has done well in the show rings where a long time dairy goat breeder loved her and awarded her Champion Nigerian Dwarf Exhibit. China Doll has wonderful wedge shaped body, deep and capacious with lovely length. She has a pretty, feminine head typical of the breed and we have just bred her to Ivydale Cinnabar who also has blue eyes. This combination will produce blue eyed kids so watch this space!!

Cassia is one of triplets born December 2021 and is another lovely quality doe. She is a Carmen x Pinky daughter so she is a lovely combination of Castle Rock genetics who are so successful in the USA. Cassia has a lovely flat topline, smooth flow of neck into withers, lovely depth of body and she moves very well on good legs and feet. Cassia has been bred to Moondance which is a very exciting combination of genetics and should produce some lovely quality kids. She is due January 2023

First Fleet Betty 100%ND

We are grateful to First Fleet for agreeing to part with this lovely doe, Betty, who we purchased in March 2022 along with one of her daughters, Beth. Betty is another nice looking, much improved daughter by Baudin and the only doe we have our of our Chloe line (besides Chloe). She kidded triplets to Naturaliste and all three show Naturaliste’s straight topline, good angulation and pronounced chest. Betty, a first freshener, proved to be a good producer with a big udder, large plump teats and nice open orifices. Her udder milks out easily and the longer we milk her the more we like her. She impressed the classifier who scored her 87 on her first classification in September 2022. On 24 July 2022 she kidded quintuplets but unfortunately she was not in the correct yard for kidding as we didn’t realise she was so close and as a result we only managed to save 2. We have retained a beautiful doeling, Ivydale Bethany, and have sold her brother to a repeat buyer. The kids are sired by FF Julian.

Bethany is a classy young doe from FF Betty and FF Julian. She was born 24 July 2022 so is very young in this photo. Lots of potential with a lovely level topline, good length in her rump and already showing the sought after wedge shaped body. We hope to take her into the showring once shows re-commence.

Opal is another quality doeling from FF Elliot and Cinnamon. She was born 6 July 2022 so is still very young but she is showing loads of potential and is oozing with ND characteristics. She has a feminine head with correct ear set, lovely smooth transition of neck into withers, good body length with a straight topline and flat rump. Really looking forward to watching this girl mature.

We should really stop buying in does but we can’t help ourselves, especially where blue eyes combine with great genetics! So we have recently taken delivery of FF Bluebell and her friend Henrietta. Bluebell is a sister to Beth and is sired by Castle Rock Harvest Moon out of FF Betty. We are sure to see some excellent udder placements and milk production coming out of these bloodlines so can’t wait to see how they all develop as time goes on.

Henrietta came up to us from First Fleet to keep Bluebell company as we have found they settle better in a new herd if they have familiar company. She is a petite chocolate and white doe with lovely flat topline, deep body, long shallow rump and good feet and legs. She is another Castle Rock Harvest Moon daughter out of FF Hester who is a daughter of FF Baudin so again we are consolidating some excellent type and production genetics which we will go forward with into the coming years.
